IKEA Baby Cot Sheets in Hong Kong: Measure the Mattress Before Ordering

IKEA baby cot sheets in Hong Kong: measure the mattress before ordering
A cot may be described as 60 × 120 cm, but that does not automatically tell you the fitted-sheet depth, how a protector changes the total thickness, or whether an old sheet matches the mattress currently in use. Measure the actual mattress before buying a replacement or ordering a custom baby cot sheet.
Does “60 × 120 cm” give enough information for a fitted sheet?

Current IKEA Hong Kong examples use the same footprint with different depths
IKEA Hong Kong currently lists cot mattresses with a 60 × 120 cm footprint at different depths. These examples show why the depth should be measured rather than assumed.

Four reasons to measure an IKEA or imported cot mattress yourself
Mattress depth varies
The fitted pocket must cover the mattress side and reach underneath. A few centimetres can change how the sheet installs.
A protector adds thickness
A protector that always stays under the fitted sheet can increase the total depth that must be covered.
The mattress may have changed
A cot can be used with a replacement mattress that differs from the model originally sold with the frame.
Imported labels differ
“Cot”, “crib”, “mini crib” and “toddler” are descriptions, not universal centimetre standards.
How to measure the cot mattress
Remove the existing sheet and measure the actual mattress while it is flat and uncompressed. Use centimetres for the custom-order entry.
Length
Measure from one mattress end to the other along the longest point.
Width
Measure from side to side at the widest consistent point.
Depth
Measure vertically from the top surface to the bottom without pressing down.
120 cm length × 60 cm width × 8 cm depth · Quantity 2 · Selected material and colour code
The order should use the dimensions you measured, even when the product label appears to show the same size.
Should you measure the cot frame, mattress label or old sheet?
| Possible reference | Should it be used for the custom size? | Why? |
|---|---|---|
| The actual mattress | Yes | The fitted sheet wraps around the mattress itself, so this is the primary measurement source. |
| The cot frame | No | The frame can be larger than the mattress and may include required clearance around it. |
| The mattress label | Useful for checking, but verify | The label may show nominal measurements, while the actual depth and protector setup still need confirmation. |
| An old fitted sheet | No | The old sheet may have stretched, shrunk or been incorrectly sized from the beginning. |
| The online cot model name | Context only | The same frame may later be used with a different replacement mattress. |
When is a ready-made IKEA cot sheet likely to be enough?
A ready-made sheet may be the simplest choice when it is designed for the exact mattress currently in use, the depth matches, the protector does not change the fit, and the sheet remains smooth without requiring excessive stretching.
When can custom sizing help?
100s TENCEL™ Lyocell or 100s cotton sateen?
100s 100% TENCEL™ Lyocell
A smooth, soft fabric with a lighter and more fluid drape. Select the fitted-sheet item on the bilingual custom TENCEL™ product page and enter the measured mattress dimensions.
100s long-staple cotton sateen
A smooth natural-cotton option with subtle lustre and a slightly more structured appearance. Select a fitted-sheet item and enter the actual mattress size.
What if the imported mattress is extremely thin?
A very thin, soft or flexible mattress may bend or curl when strong elastic pulls around its perimeter. In selected cases, an envelope-style cover may be worth discussing. It works more like a pillowcase, with the mattress inserted into the cover and the opening positioned underneath.
This is not a universal replacement for a fitted sheet. The construction should match the mattress and comply with the instructions supplied with the cot or sleep product.

Use the correct mattress and follow the cot manufacturer’s instructions
Hong Kong’s Family Health Service advises using a firm, well-fitted mattress with no gap between the mattress and cot, placing the baby on their back for sleep, and keeping soft objects and loose bedding out of the sleep space.
Do not add an extra mattress, soft topper or padding to correct a sheet-size problem. For IKEA or any other cot, follow the product instructions and use only permitted mattresses, sheets and accessories.

Are all IKEA baby cot mattresses 60 × 120 cm?
IKEA Hong Kong currently lists several cot products and mattresses around a 60 × 120 cm footprint, but product ranges can change and mattress depth can differ. Check the current product information and measure the mattress you own.
Why do I need the mattress depth?
The fitted sheet must cover the mattress side and reach underneath. Two mattresses with the same length and width can require different fitted pockets when their depths differ.
Should I order a 60 × 120 cm sheet without measuring?
It is better to verify the actual length, width and depth first. Also check whether a protector will remain underneath the fitted sheet.
Can you make a fitted sheet for an imported crib mattress?
Yes, when the actual mattress length, width and depth can be provided. The terms cot, crib, mini crib and toddler mattress do not replace measurements.
Can I measure the cot frame instead?
No. Measure the mattress itself. The cot frame may include clearance and will not provide the correct fitted-sheet depth.
Should I include the mattress protector?
Include a thin, flat protector in the total depth only when it will normally remain underneath the fitted sheet.
Can I order only one custom fitted sheet?
Yes. Add only a fitted-sheet item on the selected custom-bedding product page. A complete bedding set is not required.
Which fabrics are available?
Traditional made-to-measure fitted sheets are available through the 100s TENCEL™ Lyocell and 100s long-staple cotton-sateen product pages, subject to current availability.
How is the price calculated?
The quotation depends on the selected material, mattress dimensions, quantity, colour and estimated fabric usage. Use the current product-page quotation as the pricing reference.
How long does production take?
Many custom orders require approximately two to three weeks after the dimensions, material, colour, quantity and order details are confirmed. Actual timing may vary with fabric availability and workshop scheduling.
Is Simple ol’ Me affiliated with IKEA?
No. IKEA is referenced only to help customers understand mattress-size and replacement-sheet search intent. Simple ol’ Me is an independent custom-bedding provider.
