What measurements are required?
Use a firm measuring tape, keep the mattress flat and avoid compressing the foam while measuring.
Length
Measure from one end of the mattress to the other along its longest point.
Width
Measure from side to side at the widest point of the mattress.
Depth
Measure vertically from the top sleeping surface to the bottom of the mattress.

How to measure a baby cot mattress step by step
1. Remove the existing sheet
Measure the mattress itself. An old sheet may have stretched, shrunk after washing or been the wrong size from the beginning.
2. Let the mattress return to its natural shape
Place it flat before measuring. Do not press down on foam or pull flexible edges outward.
3. Measure length and width to the outside edges
Keep the tape straight. For a flexible or slightly irregular mattress, check more than one position and record the largest consistent measurement.
4. Measure the full depth
Depth is essential for a fitted sheet. Two mattresses with the same length and width may still require different fitted sections when one is thicker.
5. Decide whether the protector should be included
When a thin, flat mattress protector will remain underneath the fitted sheet, install it before taking the final depth measurement.
6. Record unusual features
Mention rounded corners, folding sections, removable covers, straps or other construction that may affect the fit. A clear photograph is helpful, but it does not replace the three measurements.

How should a baby fitted sheet sit?
A suitable fitted sheet should cover the mattress securely without large areas of loose or bunched fabric. It should not be so small that installing it requires excessive force or changes the mattress shape.
Keep the sleep space firm, well fitted and clear
